Python Resources for Beginners

Sun 22 March 2015

I’m helping out with a Pyladies PDX class for beginners right now, so I wanted to make a quick post with links to resources I like.

Common Python errors for beginners: flowchart, available as an image or PDF.

Anaconda: free distribution including most of the data analysis libraries you need, including pandas and IPython.

IPython Notebook: a web-based interactive computational environment — if you’re taking the Rice University introduction to Python with PyLadies PDX, think of this as being akin to CodeSkulptor in its ease, but with many more benefits!

Pelican: static site generator, and a good way to acquaint yourself with package management, noodling around with the command line, and navigating documentation. I’m using Pelican for this very blog!
